Embellished Vintage File Folder Junk Journal
This embellished vintage file folder junk journal was inspired by the beautiful woman I cut out of a magazine. At the time I didn’t know what I was going to make with her, but I knew the idea would come to me sooner or later. One day I decided to use up a bunch of manila file folders I had lying around. There were a total of 8 regular size folders which I cut in half lengthwise. Make any width and length you want your journal to be. Once my pieces were folded in half, they measured approximately 4 1/2 x 4 1/2″. The construction of this journal was relatively…
Jeweled Decoupage Mini Altered Box
This decoupage altered box started out as a plain container for a wheel of cheese! Using mod podge matte, I decoupaged craft paper to the interior and exterior of the base and lid of the container and then I did the same for the sides. Any excess paper was easy to cut off once dry. I used an exacto knife to get clean edges. The craft paper was from the Modern Millinery Signature paper collection. This pack of double sided craft paper was purchased at Wal-Mart. They have some great options that are reasonably priced. Once the paper dried, the decorations were easy to apply using E6000. Various fabric scraps,…
Vintage Shabby Chic Mixed Media Canvas Collage
I had a blank 8×10″ canvas lying around….. what to do with it? Start a mixed media collage of course! I didn’t have any specific idea in mind, so I looked around a my scrap papers and pulled some out. The color scheme just seemed to come together. Orange and Green. Maybe it was because it was springtime. I have learned through trial and error, to start the BOTTOM layer first. In previous collages, I had attached the 3 dimensional pieces first and then tried to finish the background by painting around them. Lets just say that didn’t work for me. Build from the bottom layer up! That’s what I…
Gorgeous Vintage Lace Junk Journal Grocery Bag
I constructed the cover by taking a large white paper bag and cutting it down to 10 inches wide (this includes two 4 inch covers and a 2 inch spine) and 8 inches high. I watched lots of you tube tutorials and adapted them to end up with this result. Next, I put together my signatures by picking out papers with a neutral color scheme (this was difficult for me as I LOVE COLOR). Each paper measured approximately 8 x 10″. I folded each in half to compose the signatures. I varied the placement, size and texture of each page for interest. I threw in various doilies, a file folder,…
Corrugated Cardboard Cutie Junk Journal
My first post! Woohoo! I chose to feature this little 5″ x 7″ gem because it was quick and easy to put together using fabric scraps, cardboard, vintage jewelry/buttons and coffee dyed papers. A total of 24 various pages of scrapbook leftovers I had in my “stash” including lots of blank pages for journaling that are finished off with a little “glitter and glam” bling. The journal is secured with two 1 inch ring binder loops. I started by sewing my fabric pieces randomly by hand along the left side of my 2 cardboard scraps on both the front and back covers. I like to overlap and scrunch the various…
