Juliette – A French Themed Traveler’s Notebook Junk Journal
Juliette my French Themed Traveler’s notebook Junk Journal was inspired by a Eastern robe garment I found at a thrift store. I absolutely love to find items and use them to create a junk journal. I saw sparkly gold fabric peeking out of the edges of this robe and it immediately drew me in. This is all I need to get my inspiration going, ideas immediately pop to mind. My Inspiration The colors for this journal were dictated by the gorgeous pink and gold trim. First off, I gathered additional fabrics, trim, journal pages, vintage ephemera, jewelry and images that coordinated. Cover Construction The dimensions for this travelers notebook style…
Traditional Vintage Holiday Junk Journal
I love the holidays, and what better to celebrate by creating a junk journal with a classic vintage theme. My inspiration comes from seeing decorations in stores, magazines, thrift store treasures, Pinterest posts, Instagram reels and YouTube videos. My go to is usually some sort of vintage theme. As you can see with this junk journal, the traditional reds and green play a staring role in the color scheme of this journal. Gold, cream, burgundy and tan postcards, tags, journaling cards and Christmas cards offset and highlight the reds and greens in this journal. What would one of my junk journals be without lace, jewelry, trim and doilies to adorn…
Victorian Sunset Junk Journal
My Inspiration The inspiration for this Victorian Sunset themed junk journal came from a custom order. The request was for a Victorian theme using all the colors of the sunset. Orange was the main color for this journal along with complementary colors of yellow, gold, burgundy, green and cream. I like to start each of my journals with a focal piece. Something to base everything else on. In this case, it was some upholstery fabric I recently got from a thrift store. Using this piece, I gathered all my other fabrics, laces, appliques, trims ribbons and papers that coordinated with the fabric. As you can see, there is not any…

Lovely Ladies Vintage Junk Journal
My inspiration My vast collection of vintage images cut from magazines, old photographs, and calendar pictures all inspired me to make a junk journal featuring the lovely ladies from the past. I decided on a red/white/black theme with a few animal prints because to me, this combination is both glamorous and timeless. Below are some images that I included in this junk journal. The cover This journal started out from a vintage book. I removed the spine and all the interior pages. The front and back cover were perfect for this journal. I mod podged vintage style scrapbook paper to both sides of each of the book covers. I decided…
Shimmering Christmas Holiday Junk Journal
My inspiration The idea for this shimmering Christmas holiday junk journal started when my sister in law and I were out shopping. She mentioned how much she loved the Christmas trees that were not decorated in traditional red, green and gold. Her favorite was decorated in blue, pink, and silver. The wheels started churning in my head…. a Christmas journal in these colors for her as a present! I took a picture of the tree she pointed out and the idea was all set. Page construction Since I save all my previous years Christmas cards, I had quite a few to choose from. I pulled out any that had these…
Vintage Scrapbook Album- Memories of my Mother
The idea of a scrapbook album showcasing vintage photos of my mom had been on my mind for a long time. After my mom passed away, I found dozens of photos and newspaper clippings of her. They were saved in a cedar chest in her basement. I knew I wanted to create something I could look at often. However, I didn’t want to go sort through old photographs packed away in boxes every time I thought of my Mom. The Graphic 45 Vintage Hollywood paper collection was the perfect choice to feature all the beautiful photos I had. The cover was constructed simply by taking a piece of paper from…
Gorgeous Vintage Lace Junk Journal Grocery Bag
I constructed the cover by taking a large white paper bag and cutting it down to 10 inches wide (this includes two 4 inch covers and a 2 inch spine) and 8 inches high. I watched lots of you tube tutorials and adapted them to end up with this result. Next, I put together my signatures by picking out papers with a neutral color scheme (this was difficult for me as I LOVE COLOR). Each paper measured approximately 8 x 10″. I folded each in half to compose the signatures. I varied the placement, size and texture of each page for interest. I threw in various doilies, a file folder,…
Corrugated Cardboard Cutie Junk Journal
My first post! Woohoo! I chose to feature this little 5″ x 7″ gem because it was quick and easy to put together using fabric scraps, cardboard, vintage jewelry/buttons and coffee dyed papers. A total of 24 various pages of scrapbook leftovers I had in my “stash” including lots of blank pages for journaling that are finished off with a little “glitter and glam” bling. The journal is secured with two 1 inch ring binder loops. I started by sewing my fabric pieces randomly by hand along the left side of my 2 cardboard scraps on both the front and back covers. I like to overlap and scrunch the various…
