Restored Vintage Scrapbook Album from the 1890’s
I love to go to flea markets and thrift stores. A few months ago I stumbled on the most beautiful scrapbook from the 1890’s. The patent on the back of the scrapbook is dated March 1876 as seen in the photo below. The images that were glued to the pages provided a glimpse into the past. There were hand written dates on many of the images. I could just imagine the young woman cutting and pasting her favorite things. I was beyond excited and knew I had to purchase it. The idea of a scrapbook album showcasing vintage photos of my mom had been on my mind for a long time. After my mom passed away, I found dozens of photos and newspaper clippings of her. They were saved in a cedar chest in her basement. I knew I wanted to create something I could look at often. The Workbasket-Shabby Chic Fashion Ladies Junk Journal
The Workbasket– what is that? A homemaker arts magazine from the 1960’s. This shabby chic fabric and paper journal was inspired by a copy I picked up at a thrift store. The image of the beautiful lady on the front cover was from one of the pages inside. I love to look at these magazines and see how times have changed! The cover was put together using a method entitled “fabric paper or paper fabric”. The YouTube I watched was by Ronda Winstead. Definitely check it out. The process is fun and easy!
