Romantic Springtime Florals Junk Journal
My Inspiration Recently, I was looking around my craft room at all the scrap paper and fabric I have collected over time. I thought to myself – “why not use these scraps for inspiration for my next junk journal?” A challenge decided to I create for myself – yes! I did not have a theme in mind for a journal, so I let my scraps guide me and let my creativity flow. Starting out First off, I literally grabbed a stack of scrap paper, a handful of fabric and lace bits and went from there. I immediately saw a theme come together. A floral theme with a vintage vibe. I…
A Touch of Red Shabby Chic Christmas Junk Journal
I have been concentrating on my holiday journals. Christmas is right around the corner! On my YouTube channel, I created a shabby chic junk journal cover from a white corrugated cardboard box. Since the cover theme was neutral, mainly with cream, off white and beige, the finished cover with added embellishments could be used for all sorts of junk journals…. wedding, valentines, winter or Christmas. I considered all of these options…. Then, when I added a vintage red bow pin to the center, my mind was made up! Shabby Chic Christmas was my theme! Cover construction As I mentioned before, I used a corrugated cardboard box for the cover. I…
Shabby Chic Vintage All Fabric Junk Journal
My inspiration I have A LOT of fabric. Quite a bit is vintage, with pastels and lots of lace. So I decided, it was time to put together a Shabby Chic Vintage All Fabric Junk Journal. Lately, I have been using old books for the covers of my journals. I wanted to challenge myself to make a different type of journal. Firstly, looking for ideas on YouTube, I was inspired by ARTEmaze and how she put together her fabric book. There are 3 parts to this YouTube tutorial and it was perfect for my challenge. Rather than going through the complete process for making this journal, I am posting a…
Shabby Chic Mini File Folder Junk Journals
Three shabby chic vintage file folders created in an afternoon! What a great time I had putting these little cuties together! It all came together when I had a few hours open, but didn’t want to embark on a large project. I wanted something that was easy and would use up some of my paper scraps. Since the mini 5×7″ file folders were a neutral creme and black color, I decided to continue with those colors. All of my papers were laid out and cut to relatively the same size when folded in half. Here are pictures of the three finished journals. The interiors of each journal are very similar…
Embellished Vintage File Folder Junk Journal
This embellished vintage file folder junk journal was inspired by the beautiful woman I cut out of a magazine. At the time I didn’t know what I was going to make with her, but I knew the idea would come to me sooner or later. One day I decided to use up a bunch of manila file folders I had lying around. There were a total of 8 regular size folders which I cut in half lengthwise. Make any width and length you want your journal to be. Once my pieces were folded in half, they measured approximately 4 1/2 x 4 1/2″. The construction of this journal was relatively…
Gorgeous Vintage Lace Junk Journal Grocery Bag
I constructed the cover by taking a large white paper bag and cutting it down to 10 inches wide (this includes two 4 inch covers and a 2 inch spine) and 8 inches high. I watched lots of you tube tutorials and adapted them to end up with this result. Next, I put together my signatures by picking out papers with a neutral color scheme (this was difficult for me as I LOVE COLOR). Each paper measured approximately 8 x 10″. I folded each in half to compose the signatures. I varied the placement, size and texture of each page for interest. I threw in various doilies, a file folder,…
