Shabby Chic Mini File Folder Junk Journals

Three shabby chic vintage file folders created in an afternoon! What a great time I had putting these little cuties together!

It all came together when I had a few hours open, but didn’t want to embark on a large project. I wanted something that was easy and would use up some of my paper scraps.

Since the mini 5×7″ file folders were a neutral creme and black color, I decided to continue with those colors. All of my papers were laid out and cut to relatively the same size when folded in half. Here are pictures of the three finished journals.

front cover with fabric flower, gold tulle ribbon and burlap.
front cover with corrugated cardboard snippet using bling on a roll, buttons, lace scrap.and tea dyed doily. Crochet flower with vintage jewel.

The interiors of each journal are very similar as you can see in the following pictures. Sometimes when I don’t think too much about the pages and their order, the finished result turns out the best.

vintage music sheet dated 1942! I wonder if Miss Mary Miller was the music teacher.

another postcard and lace trim
paper bag with heart die cut, along with Western Union stamped telegram dated 1960

tea stained lined paper and vintage music dated 1956

Each of the mini journals has only one signature. Two holes were punched into the center of each page (roughly two inches apart) and secured with ribbon and bow.

I think I am going to give two to friends as gifts, and maybe keep one for myself.

Glitter on friends,

I am a self proclaimed junk journal fanatic and creative crafter. If it is vintage, I am in! I recently retired from the corporate world and now have more time to devote to my love of creating one of a kind treasures. Besides junk journals my hobbies include thrifting, flea market outings, fashion, cooking, hanging with my girlfriends and daughter and golf with my husband. I currently live in the mountains of beautiful Colorado.
